A Leitchfield man lost his life in a crash on Rock Creek Road Sunday morning.

At 7:50 a.m. on Sunday, Grayson County Central Dispatch was notified of an accident at the 1700 block of Rock Creek Road in Clarkson, and the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, Clarkson Fire Department, and Grayson County EMS responded to the scene.

First responders later notified Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson of a fatality as a result of the crash.

Investigation into the incident revealed that a 2004 GMC Yukon had been travelling south on Rock Creek Road when the driver lost control, causing the SUV to leave the roadway and cross a culvert into a yard, according to Hudson.

The rear of the GMC then hit a tree in the yard, causing it to flip over one time and land on its wheels, Hudson said.

56-year-old Laymon Jaggers, of Leitchfield, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased by Hudson at 8:30 a.m. His body was transported to the Grayson County Coroner's Office for a post-mortem examination.

Hudson said alcohol was not a factor in the accident, and Jaggers was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

The accident is under investigation by Grayson County Sheriff's Deputy D.J. Newton.
