The Leitchfield Utilities Commission reviews monthly bills during its regular meeting on Thursday afternoon.

The Leitchfield Utilities Commission, during its regular meeting on Thursday, voted to purchase a new utility compact truck.

Leitchfield Utilities received three bids for a new utility compact truck: One for a 2018 Toyota Tacoma for $34,661.61 from Don Moore Toyota and two from Toyota of Bowling Green for a 2018 Toyota Tacoma SR5 4x4 Access Cab for $31,849 and a 2019 Toyota Tacoma SR5 4x4 Access Cab for $31,599.

Per the recommendation of Leitchfield Utilities Chairman Robert Crawford, the Utilities Commission voted to purchase the 2019 Toyota Tacoma from Toyota of Bowling Green, which, Crawford said, was $250 less expensive than the 2018 because the 2018 has extra unnecessary features.

Following the vote to purchase the truck, Crawford also addressed the commission regarding the upcoming process to hire a contractor to construct the new Leitchfield water treatment plant, a project four years in the making.

The bidding process will begin soon, and bids are tentatively scheduled to be opened on Nov. 15. The project must be bid seven-to-21 days prior to this date, according to Crawford.
